General Transcription
....................................................................................................................................
General
Transcription is a broad term that encompasses all areas of
transcriptioning. It is simply the process of converting an
audio file into its text form. The audio file can be from
any source such as focus groups, conference calls, panel discussions, seminars,
interviews, lectures, theses, corporate earnings report, medical
insurance claims, podcasts, raw footages, oral histories etc.
This list is far from being exhaustive as general transcription
is, by name, too general to have all of its types enlisted
at one go.
We identify our company as a general transcription company.
The different areas of transcription that we serve, our domain
specific departments and the constant effort to expand into
emerging transcriptioning arenas makes us the quintessential
general transcription company. More than that, we are one
of the fore runners of this industry. Our transcription services
coincided with the birth of outsourced transcription services.
We had envisioned the tremendous scope of this sector and
had boldly moved ahead with the first installment of our medical
transcription services. The move proved to be a wise one.
Subsequently, we tried our hands at different types of transcriptioning.
Again, each attempt was one with few precedents. As we grew
with each ascent and every tumble, we were slowly establishing
a brand that would be the cumulative result of these experiences.
Today, we are a transcription company that has not only survived
the ride but we can confidently say that we possess the edge
of experience over our newbie rivals. Again our age doesn’t
stand in the way of our constant need to grow through innovation.
The workforce is a young one that has what it takes to execute
plans and meet deadlines at the lightening speed that the
market necessitates.
Owing to the sheer diversity of the types of services we provide,
a simple classification is impractical. Some 26 categories
of our services can be said to include all of our services.
They are as shown below:
(1) Business Transcription
(2)Conference Call Transcription
(3)Court Proceeding Transcription
(4)Deposition Transcription
(5)Dissertation Transcription
(6)Educational Transcription
(7)Focus Group Transcription
(8)Footage Transcription
(9)General Transcription
(10)Insurance Transcription
(11)Interview Transcription
(12)Job Transcription
(13)Lecture Transcription
(14)Legal Transcription
(15)Media Transcription
(16)Medical Transcription
(17)Music Transcription
(18)Orthographic Transcription
(19)Podcast Transcription
(20)Real Estate Transcription
(21)Research Transcription
(22)Script Transcription
(23)Seminar Transcription
(24)Technical Transcription
(25)Telephone Transcription
(26)Thesis Transcription
For the above mentioned categories,
there are separate priorities and requirements. Our company
wouldn’t have been so successful had we adopted a straitjacketed
approach to all kinds of assignments that we take. Rather,
we have enumerated the special needs of each type of transcription
and our trained transcriptionists have to follow the guidelines
for that type. Even the selection of transcriptionists is
dictated by the expertise and the specialization required
for each type of transcription. In addition to all the specific
guidelines in place, a common thread runs through all of our
projects. It is the core, immutable set of quality parameters
our transcripts are optimized upon. The four parameters are:
(1)Accuracy:
This is our most important priority while transcribing any
file. The transcriptionists have to undergo training before
they can actually carry out transcription work. This training
focuses on accuracy of transcription. The recordings accepted
for transcription are classified according to quality. If
the recording is not of good quality, we
make use of the latest software to slow down the audio being
played. In this way, poor quality software can be transcribed
relatively easily. Repeated checking by different transcriptionists
cleans up the errors that find their way through our system.
(2)Price:
As we mentioned earlier, we were one of the first movers into
the outsourced transcription industry. Unprecedented cost
cutting was our USP then and now as well. We understand the
kind of pressures that companies are under over the state
of their bottom lines. Every possible method is used to enhance
profits. Outsourcing is the boon for companies of our times
because of the tremendous scope for the cost cutting. The
issues involved must be looked from the broader perspective
of competitive survival and globalization, rather than falling
prey to false notions of ‘quality compromises’
in outsourced services. Outsourcing thrives because they deliver
quality as required by the clients. Those who refuse to accept
this fact are creating another leeway for their competitor
to whiz past them.
(3)Speed: Speed of delivery
of final product is an important criterion upon which a transcription
service is judged. All talk of quality and pricing will be
of no use if the client receives his transcripts after a delay.
This not only creates a bad image for the company concerned
but may also lead to losses for the client firm. Hence, we
place a high premium on the turnaround time requirements of
our clients. There are two categories of services that have
been formulated to systematize the time management of transcription
work. Category A is for relaxed time constraints on the receipt
of transcripts The transcript is scheduled to be delivered
within 24 to 48 hours from the time of getting the recordings.
Category B is for urgent delivery of transcripts , which will
be returned within 12 to 24 hours of the receipt of the recordings.
These time limits are never transgressed and are usually submitted
much before the deadline.
(4)Data Security:
We understand that all files we receive may contain data that
necessitates secrecy. We also understand that when people
approach an outsourced transcription company, their primary
concern is data security. In spite of the strong data security
mechanisms that were already in action , we decided to wipe
out all data security concerns of our clients at one go. We
looked for professional guidance for this mission. We put
up the toughest data security safeguards as per HL7 EHR Security
and Privacy Issues and JCAHO. Indeed, our data security system
now stands impregnably against all kinds of attacks or mischief.
We reckon that you may entrust all your transcription work
to us so that you can concentrate on your core business. Nowhere
else will you find such a unique combination of quality and
competitive pricing together with the added assurance of the
data security issues and the timely delivery of your transcripts.
